Patch 7.25 — July 26, 2026
Patch 7.25 adds scene rendering optimizations, remaps mouse side buttons and stick-press inputs, fixes Buff bar stacking, co-op difficulty sync, Pearl effects, achievements, and encyclopedia display.
PlayMud Studio shipped patch 7.25 on July 26, 2026 — the second hotfix in launch week, following patch 7.24. Official notes and WutsHot coverage highlight scene rendering optimizations, expanded control remapping, several gameplay and display fixes, one balance tweak, and a temporary Borderless Window rollback. This wiki page summarizes what changed, what is still under investigation, and where to read deeper guides.
Performance
Patch 7.25 optimizes scene rendering during visually intensive moments — four-player bullet peaks, storm overlays, and dense Relic proc VFX that previously caused frame-time spikes on mid-range GPUs. PlayMud did not publish a full settings changelog, but players on GTX 1060-class hardware report smoother boss rooms and cleaner transitions between district loads.
If you still stutter after updating, verify files through Steam, cap background overlays, and lower particle density before assuming the patch missed your setup.
Controls
The remapping menu now accepts mouse side buttons (MB4/MB5) and controller stick-press inputs — the click-in on analog sticks that many players bind to dodge, ping, or Buff bar shortcuts. That closes a gap where only face buttons and keyboard keys were rebindable on day one.
Open Settings → Controls (see our controls hub) and re-check bindings after every patch — Steam Input profiles and third-party drivers sometimes override new slots until you save a fresh layout.
Gameplay fixes
Buff bar item combination
Items dragged into the Buff bar could fail to combine or display incorrect stacked effects when multiple consumables shared similar proc windows. Patch 7.25 corrects combination logic so merged Buff bar entries reflect the intended totals during runs and co-op trades.
Multiplayer difficulty settings
Hosts and clients occasionally saw mismatched difficulty modifiers in four-player sessions — Chaos Battle Scar toggles, Tarot rules, or district scaling that looked aligned in the lobby but diverged in-run. This patch synchronizes difficulty settings across the party. Retest with your squad using our co-op guide if you previously aborted runs over “wrong-feeling” damage numbers.
Pearl item effects
Pearl — a run-shaping item tied to high-difficulty routes and Stella’s kit — was applying incorrect effect values in some loadouts. Effects now match design intent. Read the Chaos Battle Scar difficulty guide for when Pearl matters, and the Stella character page for build context.
Achievement unlock reliability
Some hunters reported achievements failing to fire despite meeting conditions — especially after crashes mid-run or when finishing co-op sessions as a guest. Patch 7.25 improves unlock reliability on the backend validation path. If a trophy still will not pop, note the achievement name, solo vs co-op, and approximate run time in Steam discussions.
Balance
Corpse Collector’s Summons — a recurring enemy summon tied to necromancer-adjacent district pressure — received a health reduction. Expect faster clears when those adds spawn in packs, but do not assume broader necromancer or Relic nerfs; this patch targets that summon pool specifically.
Display
Encyclopedia unlock display
New Encyclopedia entries sometimes failed to show the unlocked state in the UI even after conditions were met, confusing collectors tracking lore and item unlocks. Patch 7.25 fixes the display flag so completed entries render as unlocked.
Borderless Window temporarily disabled
PlayMud disabled Borderless Window mode in this build because of stability issues on multi-monitor and ultrawide setups. The client now automatically switches to Windowed if your saved preference was Borderless. Fullscreen remains available. Track system requirements and display notes for when Borderless returns.
Known issues
Developers are investigating an intermittent chapter elevator bug that can appear after the Celebration! (Circus) boss. Symptoms vary — the elevator fails to depart, soft-locks the floor transition, or strands one co-op player on the wrong layer. Workarounds are not confirmed; if you hit it, save the chapter, boss phase, and party size, then report through official channels. Prep for that fight with our boss guide so you can recognize whether you are stuck on a known bug vs a routing mistake.
What to do after updating
- Verify game files in Steam (Properties → Installed Files → Verify).
- Rebind side-mouse and stick-press inputs if you rely on them — defaults may not carry every custom layout forward.
- Re-host co-op lobbies so difficulty settings sync cleanly under the new fix.
- Switch to Windowed or Fullscreen deliberately if Borderless was your old default.
- Report the Circus elevator bug with repro steps if you encounter it post-patch.
